建国記念の日 / National Foundation Day

February 11 is celebrated as National Foundation Day. According to old Japanese mythology, Emperor Jinmu, the first emperor of Japan, ascended to the throne and founded the imperial line on this day.

2月11日は、建国記念日です。日本の神話によると、日本の最初の天皇である神武天皇が即位し、天皇家の系統を設けた日だとされています。

It was celebrated as kigensetsu, the day of origin, only until the end of the Second World War, and was discontinued after the war because there's no real historical basis for it. But it was designated a national holiday in 1967.

第2次世界大戦が終わるまで、この日は紀元節として祝われていましたが、歴史的根拠がないことから、戦後は中断されました。しかし、1967年に国民の祝日に指定されました。
