国土交通省は２２日、日本を訪れた外国人が２０１４年に初めて年１３００万人を突破したと発表した。円安で日本への旅行が割安になったほか、東南アジアの訪日ビザ緩和、１０月に始まった消費税の免税対象拡大なども追い風に、前年比で３割近く増加。国内消費にも貢献している。

The number of foreign visitors to Japan this year has exceeded 13 million for the first time ever, the transport and tourism ministry said Monday.
The number has shot up nearly 30 pct from the year-before level chiefly thanks to the yen's weakening against other currencies.
Relaxed visa requirements for visitors from Southeast Asia and the expanded range of products for which foreign tourists enjoy consumption tax exemption also contributed to the increase.
