全盲の辻井さん(20)が米ピアノコンクールで優勝!

米国・テキサス州フォートワースで開かれた「第13回バン・クライバーン国際ピアノコンクール」で、全盲の日本人ピアニスト、辻井伸行さん(20)が19歳の中国人ピアニストと並んで優勝した。
東京都出身の辻井さんは生まれつき全盲で、現在は上野学園大音楽学部3年に在学中。2歳のとき突然、母親が口ずさんでいた「ジングルベル」をおもちゃのピアノで奏で始めたという。

Fort Worth - The thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano competition wrapped up this evening in Fort Worth. Pianist came from all over the world for a shot at winning fame. but when it came down to the final nail-biting moments judges just couldn't decide. It ended in a tie.
After weeks of performances dozens of pianist it all came down to today.
It was the youngest one, at just nineteen years old that took home the gold. Haochen Zhang is from China and has been playing since age three, he says his young age helps. Earlier in the day he said, " If I don't do well, I can come back or go to other competitions."
The other big winner overcame all the odds. Nobuyuki Tsujii is the twenty year old from Japan. He is blind and plays purely from memory. As he tickles the ivory, the audience can't help but watch in amazement.
The winners had tough competition. Event coordinator Alann Sampson says, " Three weeks now we have been hearing glorious music from these twenty-nine wonderful artist. "
Of the twenty-nine competitors, fourteen nations are represented at this years competition they're competing for prizes worth one million dollars.
