12月号のAERA Englishの特集の一つでTOEIC900点突破した人達が紹介されている。みんなに共通しているのは目標を立てて地道に努力しているということ。
特に感心したのは、仕事をしながら1日6時間英語学習、睡眠3時間というハードな生活を1年間続けた人。この人は、その後MBAを取得して起業している。
やはりやる人はやるんだとつくづく感じる。目標は常に高くもって、頑張ろうという気になった。今、自分の周りは、”忙しいからできなくて当たり前”のようなことを言っている人ばかりで刺激がない。英語に限らず、下を見ればそれなりにたくさんいるけど、それで安心しているようではそこまで。上をみれば上にもたくさんいる。少しでも上にいけるように目標をもって達成していきたい。

昨日は2週間ぶりにNOVAへ行った。昨日のレッスンはそれなりの充実感があった。テキストが少し難しくなり、長い文章もあるので読み応えがある。知らない単語も適度にあるので、きちんと家で予習復習をやれば身になると思う。

この秋始まったドラマで唯一毎回みているのは、「デスパレートな妻たち」。最初は話題だけで見始めたけど、見てみると意外に面白い。英語も比較的わかりやすい。DVDに録画してわからない部分は日本語吹き替えでチェックする。主役スーザンの萬田久子の吹き替えを聞いてから、英語で聞いていても萬田久子の姿が頭にちらつくようになってしまった。

アメリカABCで日曜夜に放送されていて、向こうではすでに第２シーズン放送中。ABCの「Desperate Housewives」のページに毎回のあらすじがのっているので、英語の勉強も兼ねて定期的にチェックしている。すでに第１シーズンのあらすじは全部のっているけど、毎回の楽しみのためにまだみないようにしている。でも、HPで公開されているビデオをついついみてしまい、中途半端に先の展開を知ってしまった...
